At Shared Beginnings, children learn best when they feel safe, supported and inspired. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and, for our Victorian services, aligned with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), our Shared Foundations Approach blends child-led learning, purposeful play and holistic growth, so each child is known, nurtured and confident.
Our Curriculum Approach

What Guides Us
Child-led learning
Every child has unique ideas and interests. Our educators listen closely and design experiences that grow from what excites your child, keeping learning meaningful and joyful.
2) Learning through play
Play is powerful. It’s how children make sense of the world, test ideas and build confidence. We create rich play spaces, indoors and outdoors, for imagining, creating and exploring together.
Holistic growth
We focus on the whole child, emotional, social, physical and cognitive. Flexible, responsive programs build resilience, self-regulation, language, creativity and problem-solving.
Belonging & community
Children thrive when they feel connected. We partner with families, honour cultural diversity and actively include Indigenous perspectives, so every child feels they belong and every voice is valued.
Educator expertise
Skilled, caring educators act as guides, role models and co-learners. They shape safe, inclusive environments filled with chances to wonder, question and grow.

How it looks in practice
- Daily routines: Learning is embedded in everyday moments, from mealtimes to group time, to build independence and confidence.
- Play spaces: Classrooms and outdoor areas are set up to spark curiosity, collaboration and problem-solving.
- Cultural respect: Programs reflect the cultures of our families and community, with Indigenous perspectives woven in.
- Family partnerships: We work alongside you, sharing goals, progress and learning stories, to ensure consistency and trust.
- Celebrating progress: Milestones, big and small, are recognised and shared, so children see themselves as capable learners.
Why It Matters
The Shared Foundations Approach prepares children not only for school, but for life - confident, capable and connected, with the curiosity to embrace what comes next.
Every beginning is special. When we share the journey, the foundations are even stronger.
